On Tuesday, San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom put his foot in a lingering controversy regarding Supervisor Ed Jew. Jew in fact did not live in the district he represented and on top of that he solicited cash money amounting in the tens of thousands in exchange for helping tapioca-shop owners with their city permits. By recommendation of the commission, Jew could be removed by a vote of nine of the 11 supervisors. Until the issue is fully resolved, the Sunset District will be represented on The Board of Supervisors by Carmen Chu, deputy budget director.

This is an example of where the ethics in city politics has been directly compromised. In my opinion, the actions taken by Jew are clearly unethical. This shows the effort mayor Newsom is willing to put forth in order to minimize scandal in the city of San Francisco.
